I would LOVE to design for you if you are a challenge blog or even hold a guest designer spot, but I will no longer be able to accept design team positions for companies or manufacturers due to the new Stampin' UP Demonstrator agreement if I will be required to link to them on my blog. I am under contract with the above companies and will happily be fulfilling my DT commitments to them. Thank you for your understanding.

About me

My Photo
thescrapmaster
Hello, my name is Samantha, and I am the creator of SPCC, the brand new color challenge blog. I am a full time undergraduate college student addicted to scrapbooking (especially patterned paper & stamps!!). I am a Stampin' Up! demonstrator & love stamps! I also blog daily at Scrapmaster's Paradise. My fiance and I live with our 5 wonderful dogs in a small town in Tennessee. As an undergraduate student, I am a senior majoring in biochemistry and psychology with a pre-medical concentration. Aside from school, I love to scrapbook & do anything craft related. I spend all of my free time scrapbooking or making cards. I don't know what I will end up doing with my future, but no matter where life takes me, I will be a scrapmaster for life!

IBCC #27

Friday, July 31, 2009

IBCC stands for Idea Book & Catalog Challenge. The IBC challenges are intended to get everyone thinking about the Stampin' UP catalog as an idea book and not only a catalog (since it is intended to be BOTH). The Idea Book & Catalogs are all filled with great sample projects which you can use as inspiration for many different types of projects.

Use the project below as your inspiration for your project this week:
This week, I got high tech and we are using Mr. Linky!!! If you create an IBCC project, show us!!

Happy Crafting,

Want your name in the spotlight????

I am so sorry to inform you that according to Stampin' UP's new demonstrator agreement effective October 1st, 2009, I will no longer be allowed to promote any company on my blog besides Stampin' UP. I will be finishing off the remaining spotlights that I have already had planned out, but I will not be able to accept any more spotlights.

Thank you for your understanding.

Shaving Cream Background Tutorial

As promised, I have made a tutorial for the Shaving Cream Background technique. This technique is a fun and very messy one, so get ready to get your hands dirty and have lots of paper towels handy!!

You will need:
  • Shaving cream -the foam kind, not the gel kind. I used Barbasol because that is the kind I had on hand.
  • 3-4 Stampin UP Classic Reinkers -I am using Melon Mambo, Crushed Curry, and Rich Razzleberry for the tutorial (For the card above I used Dusty Durango, Melon Mambo, Crushed Curry, and Rich Razzleberry)
  • Stampin UP Whisper White cardstock -I cut mine into quarters (4.25inchX5.5inch pieces)
  • lots of paper towels
  • utensils for mixing and scraping (such as a plastic fork and a bamboo skewer used here!)

STEPS:
1. Spread out a couple of layers of paper towels on a table. This will be your work surface. I didn't have any problem with leaking with two layers of paper towels. Open your reinkers so they are ready to use.

2. Spray an area of shaving cream large enough to cover your piece of Whisper White cardstock.

4. Smooth the shaving cream with a fork or whatever you have handy.

5. Put a couple of drops of each color of reinker over your shaving cream surface in a random pattern.

6. Using your fork, make a swirling pattern across your shaving cream to mix around your reinkers. You may have to go across the surface back and forth a couple of times to get the reinkers mixed how you want them.

It should end up looking something like this:

7. Next, with your bamboo skewer (for toothpick, just something smaller) make some smaller swirls across the shacing cream for more detail.

Now your shaving cream should have even more detailed ripples and it should look something like this:

8. Take one of your quarter sheets of Whisper White cardstock and press it directly into the shaving cream.

Make sure to press it all the way into the shaving cream, even around the edges. There should be shaving cream squirting around all the sides of the paper like shown in this photo:

9. Peel your paper out of the shaving cream.

10. Using your fork, scrape off the excess shaving cream and put the excess back into your shaving cream pile (will explain later!).

11. Use a paper towel to wipe off the rest of the shaving cream from your paper.

Here is what my paper looked like:

Now, I was left with this pile of shaving cream!! So I used it again :O) Repeat the steps using another quarter sheet of Whisper White Cardstock.

Swirl and smooth out the shaving cream, press your cardstock into it, scrape, wipe. . .

And now you have two!!

So I repeated the process and ended up with 4 very different peices of cardstock with the same pile of shaving cream. The more I used the same shaving cream, the lighter the colors got, but it still looked neat! I could have probably gotten more than 4 pieces out of the shaving cream I was using if I had added a few more drops of reinker to the shaving cream. Since this is such a messy and involved process, I think it is best to work in batches like I did so you can make plenty of paper for later use.

Now, I want to see what you make!! If you make something using this technique, share it below in Mr. Linky. I may just showcase you on my blog :O)

I'm Certified Baby!!

Well, at least I finished all my online training so I am an SDU Certified Instructor! I haven't been officially sworn into the secret SDU instructor society or anything like that yet (if there is such a thing? LOL), but I am at least in the end processes of certification!

SDU, or Scrapbook Design & You is a Scrapbook education program by EK Success and they teach the basics of design to scrapbookers. Now, I felt pretty confident going into my training that I knew a lot about scrapbooking and even I learned some things during my training so this class will teach even experienced scrapbookers a thing or two! This class is geared towards beginner scrapbookers so if you are interested in learning about scrapbooking, this is the class for you. It really does cover everything you need to know about scrapbooking.

Anyway, my local Joann's store is going to be offering SDU courses starting this fall and I am going to be one of the instructors!!!! YIPPEE!!!

Light Vs. Dark

Thursday, July 30, 2009

I have two versions of the same card to share with you today. For this card all I did was change the background color from Very Vanilla cardstock to Kraft cardstock. The background cardstock just changes everything. The mini workshop is after both cards.

  • Background was made with the Big Shot and the diamond texture plate from the Stampin' UP Backgrounds I Texturz Plates pack
  • Bunnies are from the Stampin' UP Forest Friends stamp set. They are stamped in Crushed Curry, Lovely Lilac, and Dusty Durango
  • Sentiment is from the Stampin' UP Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set. Sentiment is stamped in Basic Black
  • Scallop border was made with the Stampin' UP Scallop Edge Punch

The Big Shot Giveaway has a Big Winner!

We have a Big Winner to announce!!!!!!

For my Big Shot Giveaway in July, I had 6 entries, 5 of which came pretty early in the month and the last entry just squeezed in the last day of the contest. So this morning, I stuffed all 6 names into one of Johnny's baseball caps and drew out a name. If I hadn't been sick for the past month, I might have even taken photos, but forgive me, I look pretty awful (and I need to pluck my eyebrows!! LOL) so I skipped the photos!

Anyway, the name that I pulled out of the hat was. . . . . .

MEME!!!!!!!!!
One of the greatest things about being a Stampin' UP demonstrator and running my own business is that I actually get to know and become friends with many of my fellow stamp addicts, ahem, I mean customers. I say this because I absolutely adore MeMe! She is just awesome! We have lots of fun at her stamp-a-stacks and she is going to be one of our monthly croppers. Oh, and she is a Tupperware consultant so if you need Tupperware, then she can hook you up!!

And of course, I didn't leave the other 5 players empty handed. Each of them got something special as well. They get to be a demonstrator for a day! They get to use my 20% discount on their next order :O) HOORAY! Everyone is a winner at Scrapmaster's Paradise!!!

Now, I think EVERYONE should own a Big Shot, so if you don't own a Big Shot, GET ONE!!! LOL They are truly awesome tools. I love mine and I am sure you will love yours too. If you have any questions about the Big Shot, please send me an email scrapmastersparadise@yahoo.com . Look at all the things this puppy can cut:

*Thick corkboard
• Thick chipboard (59 mil)
• Colored magnet
• Ruffle board
• Paper wood
• Balsa wood (3/32”)
• Bass wood (1/16”)
• Metal mesh

• Tin (.008)
• Adhesive and nonadhesive mat board
• Drawer liner
• Shelf liner
• Vinyl
• Static cling vinyl
• Shrink film
• Fine sandpaper
• Clear acetate (20 mil)
• Vellum
• Card stock
• Patterned paper
• Flocked paper
• Contact paper
• Textured paper
• Metallic paper
• Linen paper
• Suede paper
• Embossed metallic paper
• Basketball embossed paper
• Faux alligator textured paper
• Self-adhesive glitter paper
• Fabric
• Canvas

• Self-adhesive foam
• Self-adhesive magnet
• Self-adhesive felt
• Adhesive and nonadhesive rubber
• Pop up sponge
• Poly foam
• 100% pure beeswax (cut with parchment paper on top & bottom of beeswax.)

***The following materials work well when creating die cuts with the Big Shot machine and Bigz and Originals dies. Please note the maximum thickness of several materials. As a rule of thumb, you can cut a material with your Big Shot machine and Bigz or Originals dies if you can cut it using your Craft & Paper Scissors.

Cricut Wednesday

Happy Wednesday ya'll! I will get to my Cricut Wednesday project in just a moment, but I want to share something very personal with all of you first. Many of you have been so kind and thoughtful, leaving me comments and writing to me about my migraines so I wanted to give you an update.

I have some not so happy, but happy-at-the-same-time news to share with you today. As you know I have been dealing with horrible migraines for about the past month, daily in fact. Well I went for blood work last week and I got my results today. I have Vitamin B 12 deficiency which must have developed over this past year because I was checked last year for it. So tomorrow I go in for my first of many weekly B12 shots. Hopefully this will stop some of the migraines! So it sucks that I am going to have to deal with this forever, but at least it explains the recent migraine cluster a bit. Also, I go in next week for Botox treatment for my migraines. I am exhausted and my mom is going to just pay for it because our insurance is refusing to pay for it. HATE insurance!! Thankfully, my mom is able and willing to do such a generous thing for me. This stuff is NOT cheap. It is a big deal to me that she is doing this. I can never put into words how much my mom means to me and how much this means to me that she would do this for me. Thank you all for your continued support and I appreciate your thoughts and prayers. Some days are harder than others and your kind words always mean a lot to me.

Now, finally, what you've been waiting for. . . Cricut Wednesday!!!

Today's project features a giant tree die cut from the Cricut Pooh and Friends cartridge. This has to be the cutest tree ever! OK probably not, don't go showing me cuter ones, leave me to my ideas!! This tree, border under the photo, and the background was made with patterned papers from the DCWV Spring Glitter Stack.

  • deer are stamps from the Stampin' UP Forest Friends stamp set. They were stamped using Creamy Caramel ink onto Whisper white ink and then I cut around them using my new Xacto knife that Elmer's sent to me! I will be posting more about this awesome tool soon. Did I mention it is PINK?!!?!

Use It Tuesday #17

Happy Tuesday ya'll! I am back with another installment of Use It Tuesday!

Every Tuesday, I am digging into my stash and using something I have been hoarding. I have a room full of stuff and I am going to try to USE IT!! I hope you will join me and start using your own stuff more.

This week, I am using up some more of my lovely but never ending scrapbook kit goodies. I LOVE LOVE the monthly scrapbook kits at two places: Vintage Plum and Coordinates Collections. I get kits from both places and they always impress me, but I just never have enough time to use all the kits I get. These kits are always jam packed full of goodies and I just don't get though them by the time a new kit comes in the mail. (I know, what a complaint huh! LOL I know I have more serious problems, right?!!) So I challenge you! Use those kits!!!

Here is a LO I managed to whip up last night using some of the last pieces from my July Vintage Plum kit called Cherry Pie:
The only things not included in the kit:
  • Cupcake stamp, which is from the Stampin' UP Out of the Box stamp set
  • Stickles glitter glue used as icing on the cupcakes
  • Dark brown cardstock, Stampin' UP Chocolate Chip
  • Misc Glitter Alphas (I think Doodlebug and KI Memories)

Forest Friendly SPCC #8

This week, at Scrapmaster's Paradise, we are celebrating the Stampin' UP Forest Friends stamp set! This stamp set first appeared in the last mini catalog and I just had to have it. Thankfully, it is now in the big catalog. During this week, I have a few Forest Friends projects that I will be sharing with you and I will be showing them like mini workshops - offering step by step directions with measurements. That way, you can recreate them!

I also used this week's SPCC#8 to make my card. This combo is not my usual colors so it was actually a tricky one for me and I created it! LOL Oh well! That is why it is called a challenge, right?? Be sure to play along this week!

Directions for Forest Friendly Card:
  • Background measures 4.25X5.5inches and is made of Kraft cardstock. Run Kraft cardstock through your Big Shot using the diamond Texturz plate that is part of the Stampin' UP Backgrounds I Texturz pack.
  • TIP: When making your "sandwich" for your Big Shot, put a piece of scrap cardstock between your Texturz Impressions and Texturz Silicone Rubber sheet to create a deeper embossed impression. It will make your embossing POP!
  • Ink the background by lightly rubbing over the Kraft paper using your Dusty Durango ink pad and your Crushed Curry ink pad. Don't press very hard because you just want the ink to touch the raised part of the cardstock.
  • Stamp the deer image from the Forest Friends stamp set using Crushed Curry ink onto Whisper White cardstock. Then repeat using the Dusty Durango ink.
  • Using a stamp from the Very Thankful stamp set, color over the thank you sentiment using your Basic Black Stampin' UP Marker and stamp.
  • TIPS: When using sentiments, use your Stamp-a-ma-jig for perfect placement!! When using markers, pick and choose what parts of the stamp you want to use my just coloring the parts you want and skip over the rest, this is called OMITTING. When you are done going over the part you want to stamp, breathe over the stamp, kinda "huff" on it to moisten the ink and then stamp!
  • Cut the Whisper White cardstock to measure 2.75inches wide and 2.5inches tall.
  • Cut a piece of Mellow Moss cardstock to measure 3inches wide and 2.75inches tall.
  • Attach the Mellow Moss to the background with Stampin' Dimensionals and then the Whisper White as desired.
And don't forget, there are only two days left to win BIG!!

Stamptivity #19

Saturday, July 25, 2009

Before I get to the Stamptivity challenge, I was to remind you that TOMORROW is the ROYAL BLOG TOUR!!! Come back bright and early to start touring through some awesome samples made with new stamp sets from the Stampin' UP catalog! During the next three days, I will still be posting my normal daily blog post, but my special Royal Blog Tour post will remain at the top of my blog, so be sure to scroll down for your daily dose of SP. :O) I worked hard on my Royal Blog Tour sample cards. I hope you like them! (Shhhh! I will also be offering up some blog candy too, so be sure to check out the tour!)

Now let's talk about Stamptivity. . .

Stamptivity is a lovely clear stamp company based in the UK that I happen to design for. If you haven't looked at their stamps, be sure to take a look. They are a great company and their designs are fabulous.

For this week's Stamptivity Saturday challenge... use pastels as the main colors on your card! Ha ha! I know many of you dislike pastels, but I happen to enjoy them very much so pull out those pastel colors and make a project!

Here is my card I made:

  • Main stamp image and border at bottom are both from the Stamptivity The Wedding Dress in Arbour stamp set
  • Main Image is stamped onto Bashful Blue cardstock using Not Quite Navy ink
  • Bottom border is stamped using Baja Breeze ink
  • Background cardstock is Pretty in Pink cardstock
  • patterned paper is from the American Crafts A la Carte paper pack
  • Sentiment is from the Stampin' UP Kind & Caring Thoughts stamp set. This is a Hostess level 3 stamp set.
  • Sentiment is stamped onto Riding hood red cardstock with Basic black ink and punched out with an oval punch. Then it was layered on a Certainly Celery callop oval punch out.

Finally Friday Homemade Transparency

Friday, July 24, 2009

Here is another card I made using up some more of my cardstock scraps. It also happens to coordinate with this weeks SPCC #7 again.

I made this one for the Finally Friday challenge this week at SPCC. Heidi is hosting this week's challenge which is:

Make your own embellishments using household items.

For my homemade embellishment, I used clear packaging to make a dragonfly transparency for my card:

  • To make your own transparency: Find a plastic sheet (this can be the backing to your clear stamps, clear packaging, etc), stamp on it with StazOn ink, let dry and cut around the edges. Very easy to make! -Click the photo to look at a close up of the transparency.
  • Card measures 4.25X5.5inches
  • Embossed background was made using the Big Shot and the Houndstooth Cuttlebug Embossing Folder
  • Cardstock colors used are Kraft, Summer Sun, Whisper White, and Bermuda Bay
  • Ink colors used are Old Olive, Bermuda Bay, and Summer Sun

IBCC #26

Today we're continuing Asian Artistry Week with this week's IBCC.

The card above features the Stampin' UP Smarty Pants stamp set shown below:I am not sure about this stamp set. It is super witty and adorable (especially the hokey pokey saying) but I can't really see myself using it.

Now, this stamp set is on the same page in the IBC as the Smarty Pants set, and I think this set is one that should be on everyone's wishlist. This one is called Sincere Salutations:
And finally, here is the card I made using this week's inspiration piece. I used SPCC #7 for my mini card as well :O)

  • Card features the Stampin' UP Asian Artistry stamp set

StampAStack Birthday Challenge

Thursday, July 23, 2009

I just want to say, the Big Shot Giveaway is in full swing! It is official, I will be giving a Big Shot away!!! We've got five players. If you want to have a chance at winning a Big Shot, be sure to click on the bottom of this post for full details!!!

Today, I have another Stamp-A-Stack project to show ya. We had our Stamp-A-Stack today and it was a bunch of fun until my stupid migraine ruined everything :O( Thank goodness, everyone was almost finished anyway so I wasn't too much of a party pooper.

I designed this card with my Inkalicious Divas challenge in mind as well. This week, my Inkalicious Divas team started its new Bi-Weekly team challenges. Our first challenge was to design a non-traditional birthday themed card. Now what kind of team leader would I be if I didn't make a challenge card?? If you want to join my team, Stampin' UP is still offering a fabulous $85 starter kit so sign up today!

Let me tell you, when I got finished designing this card, I felt a little giddy inside because I really liked the way it turned out! AND THEN I NOTICED THE SMUDGE!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHH! Can you see it??? Oh well. . .

  • Embossed background was made with the Big Shot and a Texturz Plate from the Stampin' UP Backgrounds I
  • TIP: When running Texturz plates through your Big Shot, add a sheet of scrap cardstock between your Texturz Impressions Pad and Texturz Silicone Rubber sheet so that your texture background will show up extra crisp.
  • Cardstock is YoYo Yellow, Bermuda Bay, Whisper White, and Melon Mambo
  • Ink is Summer Sun, Bermuda Bay, and Melon Mambo
  • Scallops were made with the Stampin' UP Scallop Edge Punch
  • Circle stamps are from the Stampin' UP Circle Circus stamp set
  • Sentiment is from the Stampin' UP Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set

3 Times the Welcomes!

Welcome Sammye Jo, Allison, and Maxine!!!!

I have known these great gals for quite a while, but it came as a surprise to me that they wanted to become Stampin' UP demonstrators. I am sure like many of you, have been interested in Stampin' UP for a long time. They decided to mainly sign up to feed their stampy habit (which is originally why many of us sign up, me included). Sammye Jo, Maxine, and Allison now can proudly call themselves Inkalicious Divas!!

Are you Inkalicious?
With the $85 starter kit special going on right now, it is really a no brainer! If you are even considering signing up, if you have ever wanted to start your own business, if you just want your 20% demonstrator discount, then talk with me today. I can answer all your questions and give you all the info you need to make the best decision for you. I would love to have you on my Inkalicious Team. Email me at scrapmasterspardise@yahoo.com

Sign up to be a demonstrator with this sweet deal!

Now let's meet the newest Inkalicious Divas:

Sammye Jo is one of the sweetest gals you will ever meet. She is a blogger and her blog can be found in my sidebar in the Divas section. She has a great Etsy shop and I have seen some of her lovely work so be sure to check it out!

Allison is a brand spankin' new college graduate. She and I have been blog friends for a while and she is super nice. Be sure to stop by her blog. If you are interested in joining a hostess club, she is starting one up right now!

Maxine is acutally an ol' pro at Stampin' UP. She was actually a Stampin' UP demonstrator for 6 years before life got in the way, but now she is back in action. I know Maxine through my monthly hostess club and she is one of the nicest people around.

Fridge Calendar

Wednesday, July 22, 2009

This week I have been busy making projects for the upcoming Royal Blog Tour and my Stamp-a-Stack tomorrow so I have no Cricut project for ya tonight. Instead, I have a lovely calendar project for you. For our Stamp-a-Stack, we are going to make 2 different style cards and a calendar project (4 of each card and 4 months).

MeMe, if you are looking at this, shame on you!! Look away!! I would like to take a moment and tell you about all the cool little things Stampin' UP offers for making your own little calendars.

I am a very organization-loving, calendary, list-making kind of girl and Stampin' Up offers a bunch of organizing style supplies so it makes me happy!! I am sure I am not the only one out there who loves that type of thing so I wanted to take a second and point out some of the cool things. Below is a bunch of their calendar offerings.

This is a 6X6 calendar project and it is super easy to put together. These are intended to be hung on the fridge or someplace so you can easily see. The squares are pretty small so they wouldn't be ideal for writing in a bunch of events, but they would be perfect for just knowing the date and the major events that are coming up.

I made this sample one for August:
My calendar is Summer sun to coordinate with the new Kaleidoscope paper. This is one of my fave new papers from the catalog. I have a paper kit available in my store at www.samiville.com. I decorated my calendar with the Razzle Dazzle stamp set (flowers and the quote).
The calendar base was made with the Stampin' UP Calendar stamp. This is a large stamp, shown below:

Then, I just added the month using the stamp of choice from the Stampin' UP Full Callendar stamp set:
Now, I just wrote in my own numbers for the dates, but Stampin' UP offers this convenient stamp set that includes the numbers along with a matching alphabet set. This set is called Calendar Alphabets & Numbers stamp set. This would be great to have if you were going to make calendars to give to friends or family members, say, for the holidays.
And last but not least, Stampin' Up has this cute little set to decorate your calendars with. This set is apropriately called Cute Cues:

Tuesday, July 21, 2009

Of course when I started my special stamp set of the week spotlight on my blog, I said each week there would be a special to go along with my spotlight stamp set. Well since this week, the stamp set is a hostess stamp set, you can't purchase it so I have to improvise a bit. . .

Now let's learn a little more about this week's beautiful stamp set Asian Artistry. Here are some projects featured in the Idea Book & Catalog 09-10:

Use it Tuesday #16

Every Tuesday, I am digging into my stash and using something I have been hoarding. I have a room full of stuff and I am going to try to USE IT!! I hope you will join me and start using your own stuff more.

Today's project uses up some of the last bits of my June Vintage Plum kit. I am on a mission to use each and every kit up completely. Probably I won't be able to do so because I have so many of them between the Vintage Plum kits and the Coordinates Collections kits (and they are all packed FULL of goodies), but I try LOL. So I challenge you. . . USE THOSE KITS!!!

These were photos taken at my first trip to a REAL scrapbook store! I was so excited. I had NEVER been to an actual scrapbook store before and it was so glorious!! I had such a good time just looking at all the pretty things in the store. Such fun!

Minty LO

Monday, July 20, 2009

Ready to start celebrating a new stamp set this week at Scrapmaster's Paradise? Here we go!

Here is my fun little LO for this weeks SPCC challenge, which uses the Asian Artistry stamp set.

Here was this week's color combo. Don't forget to go over to the SPCC blog and see the brand new, first ever design team!! They were just announced :O) We've got a great team over there. Also, if you play along, you just might be selected to be our next Finally Friday challenge host, or our next guest designer. How cool is that?!

Here are some close up shots of my LO:

My LO for today was very simple to make. I just did a stamped border across the bottom and emphasized the bird with a Stampin' UP marker and a glitter gel pen by Fiskars. The Tag was cut to size around the Thickers and I used the Stampin' UP Horizontal Slot punch to make the tag hole. Easy Peasy!!

Don't forget about the Big Shot giveaway. There are only a few days left!!

Time Flies

Sunday, July 19, 2009

I don't know where the time flew by today! I had to work on some top secret projects that will be revealed later this week on the Royal Blog Tour so I didn't have much time left for much more creating after that and work.

But, I do have a sketch challenge for you for this week:

If you use the sketch, let me know so I can maybe showcase your project on my blog!!

Stamptivity #18

Saturday, July 18, 2009

Stamptivity is a lovely clear stamp company based in the UK that I happen to design for. If you haven't looked at their stamps, be sure to take a look. They are a great company and their designs are fabulous.

This week, my Stamptivity Saturday challenge is a really fun technique challenge. This week, use the shaving cream technique with your Stamptivity images in order to create a beautiful stamped image.

This has to be the most excitment and fun I have had stamping in a long time. Johnny even played along. It was a lot of fun to play in the shaving cream! We took photos, but I have to upload them.

I used the shaving cream for the inside of the gemstone image below:

The shaving cream technique is just so beautiful!

Supplies needed:

  • Paper towels
  • stylus or similar shaped tool
  • 2-3 reinker colors
  • shaving cream
  • white paper
NOTES: I did not have any glossy paper and mine turned out just beautifully with normal Whisper White paper. I also used a bamboo skewer to mix with so I didn't have to clean it off.

You can find a video tutorial on google video here: http://video.google.com/videosearch?hl=en&q=shaving+cream+technique&um=1&ie=UTF-8&ei=D3hiSuLuJsKOtgfc39n0Dw&sa=X&oi=video_result_group&ct=title&resnum=4#

Have fun and show us what you make!

Hit The Wall

Here is a photo of my messy scrap table. I like seeing what others have going on so I thought I would post this one just for fun. On my table, I have baggies, the Stampin' UP catalog, my new Coordinates Collections scrapbook kits for July, Thickers, new Stampin' UP patterned paper, my Stamp-a-ma-jig. . . and a bunch of scraps and odds and ends.

DO you ever have so many things going on that you just hit the wall??? LOL

Finally, after two whole weeks of being in the bed, I was able to be up today! I am starting to feel well enough to move around thanks to my new set of migraine meds. I shall refer to these new pills as Stupid Pills because they are known to have horrible cognitive side effects.. . . er. . . what was I talking about. . . HA HA Just kidding!! They haven't started working that well yet! In all seriousness, please send out good thoughts so the Stupid Pills don't actually make me too stupid :O)

Well all day I was going and going, just churning along, making up for my two weeks in the bed, awfully proud of my accomplishments, and now that I am finally ready to venture into the scrap room, EVERYONE in my house decides to take a nap and now I am stuck out of the scrap room, for who knows who much longer!! AHHH! I must be patient!

SO here is my list of busy duties I have been working on today:

  • organizing my upcoming color combos for SPCC
  • getting sponsors lined up for upcoming challenges
  • trying to decide on the SPCC design team
  • getting the dt blog set up
  • planning dt duties
  • eating lunch
  • playing with the pups
  • working on ideas for next week's celebration
  • planning next week's stamp a stack
  • watching a movie with Johnny
  • helping my 3 brand new Inkalicious Divas!! It rocks to be a demonstrator (I will welcome them soon! I love you girls!!)
  • packaging paper kits
  • emailing everyone in the world (ok maybe not, but I have been emailing a bunch)
  • and. . . I still need to clean off my messy table, shown above!
I have an organizational tip of sorts for you. I will be working on my Stamptivity challenge (it's a fun one!!) later today if I am ever permitted back into the scraproom. :O)

I will admit it, I am a scrap keeper. I keep scraps of cardstock and patterned paper, but I store them separately. . . This is how I store my cardstock. it is kind of a chaotically organized mess!

Why would you want to store scraps of cardstock, you ask?? Well let me tell you. . .
  • so you are environmentally friendly
  • so you have cardstock ready to stamp on
  • to use for punches
  • to use for small parts on cards and projects
  • to save money (this stuff adds up)
This is one of the Sterilite containers that I often rave about. These are the greatest little containers. I use them for storing my stamps and pretty much anything that I can fit into them. We have these containers in our kitchen, bathroom, car, closets. . . everywhere LOL.

This is the small size. It is perfect for fitting on my standard size shelf units (3 small containers per row) Anyway, so I get these at Target and about every season, Target will have different colors!!! This summer they have offered this Kiwi Kiss type color and a bright blue. I also have many white ones, which are the standard color and I got some burgundy colored ones last winter.

My storing tip is basically just shove all the cardstock you can possibly fit into the container! LOL NO NO don't do that. . . LOL I put the smaller sized scraps into plastic baggies sorted by color and then I have the taller pieces of the same color stacked behind the plastic baggies. A lot of the time, I put the scraps in one by one so most of them are unsorted.

When it is time to make a card or a project, I just set this little container on my scrap desk and dig through it before cutting through any new sheets of cardstock. It only takes an extra second to look, but I feel like I am saving a tree so to me it is totally worth it.

IBCC #25

Friday, July 17, 2009

IBCC stands for Idea Book & Catalog Challenge. The IBC challenges are intended to get everyone thinking about the Stampin' UP catalog as an idea book and not only a catalog (since it is intended to be BOTH). The Idea Book & Catalogs are all filled with great sample projects which you can use as inspiration for many different types of projects.
The card shown above is from the brand new Idea Book and Catalog for 09-10. This card features the Curvy Verses stamp set shown below:
This stamp is on my mile long wish list. These phrases are just so cute.
  • Stamp sets used: Curvy Verses and Nursery Necessities, Tres Chic background stamp
  • Cardstock: Basic Black, Melon Mambo, Whisper White, Pretty in Pink
  • Ink: Basic Black
  • Accessories: 1/2inch Melon Mambo polka dot ribbon, Stampin' Dimensionals, Scallop Circle punch, 1 and 3/8inch circle punch, pretties kit

Use the above card as your inspiration for your project this week. Be sure to leave me a comment with a link to your project so I can see it. I may just showcase your project on my blog!

Here is the card I made using the inspiration card. This card is my last car for D is for Dog Week. I hope you got a couple of ideas and remember to purchase by Saturday to receive the super cute scallop tags free with your stamp set.

  • Card measures 4.5inches square. Base cardstock is Orchid Opulence.
  • Paw was stamped using Rich Razzleberry onto Whisper White cardstock. The scallop circle is Bermuda Bay cardstock.
  • Flower accent was made using Rich Razzleberry and Bermuda Bay cardstock and a button.
  • Dog was stamped onto a 2inch circle using Soft Suede ink. Dog bone was stamped with Rich Razzleberry ink.
  • TIP It is easy to cut circles with a cutting tool like the Stampin' UP Circle Cutter or the Martha Stewart circle cutter. They cut up to 5.5inch circles!
D IS FOR DOG WEEK 7/12-7/18

Receive a set of scalloped tags when you purchase the D is for Dog stamp set from me this week.

I love you, Glue & Doggie Tags X 2

Thursday, July 16, 2009

Happy Thursday everyone. Today I have a triple whammy for you! I have more D is for Dog week to share so let's begin!

First, I want to share the joy of GLUE! I mentioned a while back, that I was contacted by Elmer's Crafters asking me to do some product reviews on my blog. I am still shocked that they found little ol' me!! One day, I just had an email from Elmer's asking me to review their awesome products. Of course, I was extremely honored to be chosen to receive free goodies to use, but I had NO IDEA I would get a truck load! WHOA, look at all these goodies they sent to me!!! So I would like to send out a special THANK YOU to the kind people at Elmer's!! I have had a horrible past two weeks with unrelenting migraines and this really cheered me up!

And to my readers, you know you are going to get a chance at some of these goodies so be sure to stay tuned for some glue giveaways! In addition to providing me with so many products to play with, Elmer's has also graciously become a sponsor for SPCC, my new color combo challenge blog. Be sure to join in on the challenges for a chance at some other great prizes.

Next, here are the cute little scallop tags I made to give away to anyone who purchases the D is for Dog stamp set from me this week. Purchase the D is for Dog stamp set this week from me and get this set of 8 doggie tags.

WANT A CHANCE TO WIN THESE CUTE TAGS?? Leave me a comment on this post for a chance to win these tags. I will choose a random winner next week sometime.
Make your own tags, supply list:
  • 113236 Man's Best Friend stamp set $19.95
  • 109043 Scallop Circle Punch $15.95
  • 104401 1&3/8 inch Circle Punch $15.95
  • 100908 Chocolate Chip Stampin' Pad $5.95
  • 115659 Crushed Curry Stampin' Pad $5.95
  • 105121 Pixie Pink cardstock $5.50
  • 101768 Green Galore cardstock $5.50
  • 102067 Tempting Turquoise Cardstock $5.50
  • 115317 Bermuda Bay cardsock $5.50
  • 108362 Crop-a-dile $29.95

And lastly, here is my project for the day. This is my D is for Dog embellished tag. I made this to be a decoration on a scrapbook page in the future.

  • The tag shape is from the Cricut Zooballoo cartridge.
  • To make the circle embellishment: On Whisper White cardstock, stamp the paw print in Chocolate Chip ink and the dog bone in Melon Mambo ink. Punch out the circle with a 1 &3/8inch circle punch. Punch out a scallop circle out of Pink Passion cardstock using the Scallop circle punch. Layer the circle onto the Pink Passion scallop circle. Embellish the circle and the paw print with Stickles glitter glue. Use Stampin' Dimensionals to make the circle stand off your tag.
  • The bottom egde was made with Certainly Celery cardstock and the Scallop Edge Punch. I then embellished it with Stickles glitter glue.
  • Patterned paper is K & Company
  • To position the sentiment at the top of the tag, I used my handy dandy Stamp-a-ma-jig
  • Eyelet was set using my Crop-a-dile tool.

  • D IS FOR DOG WEEK 7/12-7/18

If you would be interested in building a partnership, please contact me at scrapmastersparadise@yahoo.com with information about what you would be willing to donate.

WEEKLY SPOTLIGHT
I am working hard to start up a weekly spotlight where I showcase/review an ebay store, etsy store, online store, and also offer a giveaway of one of their items that they sell. If you would like to be a part of the weekly spotlight, I will need two prizes from you (one to use and review and one to give away as blog candy that week). Cricut Wednesday & Paper Hoarding & A giveaway

Happy Wednesday everyone!

I have a layout and a photo to share with you today. And at the very bottom, I have a giveaway to share with you.

I have mentioned about my paper hoarding problem multiple times, and now I finally have a photo that sums it up. . . BUT FIRST. . . I want to share my LO for Cricut Wednesday!

I am really excited about this LO because I found this awesome scallop square on the Cricut Storybook cartridge!! I used a piece of 12X12 patterned paper to make it so big. I love scallops of all sorts and this shape is just soooo good! I am particularly proud of this LO because I just love the way it turned out. My mom isn't very excited yet about scrapbooking and when I show her my pages, she smiles and kinda gives me the "that's nice" kind of sentiment. But with this layout, her whole face lit up, she smiled real big and said, "Aw, I love it". If you can't guess, both of these photos are of ME! LOL

  • TIP: Fit to page! The Fit to page function on the Cricut expression is the best fuction on the machine! If you have a piece of paper and you like the size of it, simply use the fit to page function and the Expression will cut the shape to the size of your paper! How neat is that!! For the scallop shape, I used the fit to page button with a 12X12 sheet of patterened paper.
  • All supplies except the cardstock used are American Crafts products. The cardstock is all Stampin' UP brand.

And now for a photo. Siobhan.. . . I deserve the Paper Ho title :O)

Click to see a larger photo:
The containers for the 12X12 paper (1st and 3rd rows) were made out of priority mail boxes. You can see some of them are not covered. I made the ones on top without measuring so they are uneven. I plan on redoing them so they all are the same like on the 3rd row.

On the top row, I have my 12X12 cardstock and some patterned paper.

On the second row, I used cardboard magazine holders that Staples sells. I just covered the front of them with Pink cardstock and labels. That row contains all my Stampin' UP 8.5X11 cardstock.

On the third row, I have a stash of scrapbook kit leftovers and 12X12 chipboard shapes in plastic keepers on the far left and then it is patterened paper galore!

Now, for a giveaway!
Want some cardstock??? See those bottom two rows of cardstock(some of it is actually raw chipboard, but I am talking about everything else on those two rows)? I want to GET RID OF ALL OF IT!!!

Please help me! Send me an email to scrapmastersparadise@yahoo.com and give me your paper order!

I only ask is that you pay the actual shipping cost so I don't break the bank giving things away LOL.

This is non Stampin' UP cardstock, but it is still great cardstock, 65lb cardstock, acid/lignin/chlorine free. I just have WAY too much of it.

I have a bunch of each of these colors:
  • medium green
  • medium blue
  • light blue
  • medium brown - SOLD!!
  • purple
  • burgundy
  • white (textured, it looks like old paper, but it isn't your normal looking textured paper)
  • Mango (the color I would use for Disney's Pluto the dog)
I have a little of the following colors:
  • Beige
  • Yellow - SOLD!!!
  • Red (Christmas colored red) - SOLD!!!
  • Pastel Purple
  • Pastel Pink - SOLD!!!
Please help me get rid of it!

Waggy Dog Card & Use it Tuesday #15

Tuesday, July 14, 2009

Today is another installment of D is for Dog Week here at SP. I hope you liked yesterday's LO and today I am going to show you the card I made for my SPCC Challenge this week. This card is also for USE it Tuesday. I am going to walk you through the design of this card step by step. It is like having a mini workshop from the comfort of your own home :O)

This is the color combo for this week: Kiwi Kiss, Chocolate Chip, Baja Breeze, and Rich Razzleberry.

Every Tuesday, I am digging into my stash and using something I have been hoarding. I have a room full of stuff and I am going to try to USE IT!! I hope you will join me and start using your own stuff more.

For this card, I used ALL scraps! I didn't have to cut any new sheets of cardstock. I keep all my cardstock scraps in a little Sterilite container so I can use them for the smaller stamped images or sentiments. I don't like throwing away perfectly good pieces of cardstock.

  • Card measures 5.5X4.25 inches.
  • Cut the Baja Breeze cardstock to measure 5.5X4.25 inches.
  • You will need two pieces of Very Vanilla cardstock: one measuring 4X5.25inches and the other measuring 2X2.5inches.
  • Cut the Rich Razzleberry cardstock to measure 2.25X2.75inches.
  • Cut the Kiwi Kiss cardstock to measure .75X2.5inches.
  • To make the background: Place your larger piece of Very Vanilla cardstock onto a piece of scrap paper. Stamp paw prints using Rich Razzleberry. Rotate the stamp as you go and reink the stamp between each time you stamp to make sure you have enough ink. Clean and dry your stamp using Stampin' Scrub and Stampin Mist. Next, repeat the paw prints using Baja Breeze ink. Lastly, stamp the dog bone using Kiwi Kiss ink.
  • TIP: Start slow! If you are unsure how many images to stamp on your background, stamp a few shapes of each color and then slowly add more stamped images until you have the background you want. You can always add more stamps to the background, but you can't take them off if you have too many!
  • TIP: Always clean your stamps! I know some of us are bad about this (I used to be!), but it is really important to take care of your stamps. To make sure your stamps have a long life, use a stamp cleaner like Stampin' Mist. The great thing about Stampin' Mist is that it is also a stamp conditioner so it will keep your stamps healthy. It is super easy to clean your stamps with Stampin' Mist when you have a Stampin' Scrub. I may just have to show you how to use it one of these days. It is so easy!
  • Attach the stamped background onto the Baja Breeze cardstock.
  • Stamp the dog image onto the smaller piece of Very Vanilla cardstock using Chocolate Chip ink. You could even jazz up the stamped image with some bling for the collar.
  • Attach the dog image to the Rich Razzleberry cardstock. Attach this to the background piece using Stampin' Dimensionals to add some dimension to the card.
  • Stamp your title onto the Kiwi Kiss cardstock using Chocolate Chip and the Stamp-a-ma-jig. For a step by step tutorial using the Stamp-a-ma-jig, click here.
  • Ink slightly around the edges of the Kiwi Kiss cardstock with Chocolate Chip ink.
  • Attach your sentiment to the card and Voila! You have a doggie card!!

Sweet Dream LO

Monday, July 13, 2009

This week, we are celebrating the beautiful Stampin' UP stamp set "D is for Dog". You know I am a HUGE doggie lover. We have 5 lovely babies and I would love to adopt more in the future. I have a personal mission to save and love all the doggies I possibly can.

For the new weekly segment, I plan on outlining everything step by step so you can recreate any of my projects, but you can alter them how ever you want. My hope is that you will learn something new here at Scrapmaster's Paradise.

Can you tell I used my sketch #23 for this LO?? It is a bit different from the sketch, but I liked the clouds.

This LO below is one that is near and dear to my heart. We lost our beautiful Taylor in March and I am still not completely whole yet. I still miss her every day. She was a huge part of my life and it isn't the same without her here. I have had this photo of her sitting in my photo stack for a long time, and when I got this stamp set, I knew what I wanted to do with the photo.

Click on the photo to see a close-up.

  • background paper is from the Stampin' UP Sweet Slumber specialty paper pack. This paper pack just retired and I haven't used any of it until now. I may have a few paper kits left that I can list for sale, but I don't know for sure. I need to go through my stack!
  • The clouds were cut out using the Cricut Paper Pups cartridge with my Cricut Expression. I varied the size of the cloud cuts between 2.5 and 3.25inches. The paper used for them is from the DCWV Spring 09 Stack. I am pretty sure Joann's still has this stack available online in the clearance section.
  • TIP: Add dimension with Stampin' Dimensionals! Stampin' Dimensionals are SU's version of foam pop dots. They are awesome! They add a great touch to any project.
  • For the edges of the clouds, I added a line of Stickle Glitter Glue. Once the glitter dried, it kindof curled up the edges of the clouds, creating even more dimension.
  • Title is glitter Thickers. Love em!!
  • The accent under the title is a puffy Thicker accent.
  • To create the journaling strips: I cut strips of paper 1/4inch thick and then wrote on them. Then I just cut between the words I wanted to have the chunks of journaling.
  • To make the scallop charm up in the top right corner: Stamp D is for Dog onto Whisper White cardstock using Melon Mambo ink. Punch it out with the 1 and 3/4inch circle punch. Punch out a scallop circle out of Tangerine Tango cardstock. Attach the circle to the scallop circle. Voila! Your very own charm embellishment!! You could even add glitter or bling to the charm to make it even more fancy.
  • To make the dog accent for the clouds: Stamp the dog shape onto Whisper White cardstock using Crushed Curry ink. Trim around the dog with small scissors or an xacto knife (I used scissors this time). Add a line of glitter for the color (Taylor had a purple collar so her's was made with purple Stickles) and add a spot of glitter for the eye.

Retired Stamps Sale

I do not have the heart to actually sell any of my own personal stamp sets, even though I have many retired stamp sets in my collection. BUT I am selling off my duplicate stamp sets that are now retired. All of my stamp sets for sale are NEW, UNMOUNTED, and in PERFECT condition. They are hostess sets or Sale-a-bration sets. In my book, these are the best of the best because you couldn't purchase them and now they are gone forever so you can't even earn them anymore.

Please give my stamp sets a good home! LOL

Stamptivity #17

For this week's Stamptivity challenge, use your Stamptivity stamps with an over sized accent of some sort. For my sample card, I used an over sized flower with my stamped image.

  • This card features a stamped image from the Stamptivity Wedding and Stationery text stamp set. This is one of my favorite stamped images of all time. It is just so gorgeous and lovely.
  • The background paper is Stampin' UP Baja Breeze cardstock (In Color 08-09, now retired)
  • Sentiment and flower was made with American Crafts patterned paper from the A La Carte paper pack
  • Sentiment is glitter thickers
  • Eyelets are American Crafts
  • TIP: for easy eyelet setting use a Crop-a-dile, it is an awesome tool!
  • Cardstock for the sentiment is Stampin' UP Basic Black
  • Ribbon is Stampin' UP Certainly Celery 1/4inch grosgrain

Chef in Training LO

Saturday, July 11, 2009

Sorry to be so short with the IBCC yesterday. I am going to go back and add more info to it (including the vet story, LOL). Click here to go to the IBCC post yesterday. I got a monster migraine right in the middle of typing and seriously had to run to the bathroom because I was so nauseated. It was not pretty!! I usually have an "aura" which means I can totally tell when I am about to get a migraine (I happen to get visual stuff in the form of psychedelic, kaleidoscope looking colors, metallic looking squiglies, and I actually lose my sense of sight for a time plus numb face, tongue, and arms), but I got absolutely no warning this time. This is my 3rd migraine of the week and frankly, I am SICK of it! I am still fighting with the darn insurance company about getting the botox injections again. URGH!! I say this not to gross you out or to get pity, but to show other migraineurs, YOU ARE NOT ALONE.

Now enough of that! Here is LO #4 from my July Vintage Plum kit. I have a ton of supplies left from my July kit so I have a lot more scrapping to get done with it before August.

  • This LO is of photos of my as a child. I was making biscuits with my grandma here. Many of my happy childhood memories are of when I was helping to cook. I love cooking still to this day.
  • All supplies except for the paint (for the large bracket) and ink (for the vanilla colored cardstock) are from the Vintage Plum kit. If you haven't ordered a kit from Vintage Plum, I highly recommend doing so. Their kits are fabulous.
  • The large bracket is a raw chipboard shape, but I painted it with Ranger Crackle paint. I love this stuff because you just paint like with regular paint and it crackles on its own. There is only one step!
  • TIP: Go Thick! The crackle paint is meant to be painted on thick. If you paint too thin of a layer, the crackles will be so tiny you won't really see them. The thicker you go, the better your cracks will look.
  • The ink I used for the vanilla cardstock was Stampin' UP Riding Hood Red ink (In Color 08-09, now retired). I just brushed the ink pad right across the edges to create a little color.
  • TIP: For a more subtle inked edge, use a Stampin' UP sponge dauber. These fit on your index finger and you just move the dauber across the edge of the edge of the paper by flicking your finger so you just touch the edge of the paper. Personally, I like a more "in your face" type of inked edge so I just take my ink pad and rub it across the edges. LOL
Here are some close-up shots. Click on the images to see a larger view.
Thanks for stopping by! Later today, I will be posting my Stamptivity challenge so stay tuned.

IBCC #24 & Vet story

Friday, July 10, 2009

Today was day two of the vet visits for our dogs. I have the story below.

  • Stamps: Season of Friendship
  • Paper: Chocolate Chip, Rich Razzleberry, and Very Vanilla cardstock
  • Inks: Chocolate chip, Rich Razzleberry, Pale Plum and So Saffron classic ink pads
  • Accessories: Chocolate Chip and Very Vanilla Taffeta ribbons, Stampin' Dimensionals
  • For this project, they used the Stampin' Dimensionals to add dimension by cutting out the flowers and then attaching them to the tree with them. It is hard to tell in the photo, but you can kinda see it.
This card is from the brand new Idea Book & Catalog 09-10 that came out this month. I am soooooo glad to say that Season of Friendship stamp set is in the new catalog!!!! YIPPEE! This is one of my favorite sets of all time and I have a few projects still to show you using this set. I didn't want to share them until I knew that the set was still available or not because I have been asked about this stamp set a bunch of times.

Use this card as your inspiration for your project this week. Be sure to leave me a comment with a link to your project so I can see it. I may just showcase your project on my blog!

Now on to some light entertainment! Today was day TWO of the vet visits. Lemme tell you, I thought day 1 was bad. . . Well it was NOTHING compared to day two! It was AWFUL!!! Today, Bella and Mya went to get their yearly check ups and shots. Well we knew Mya would be bad because she has been acting up the last two years at the vet office. Bella has been our good little angel at the vet every year. Every year, they always compliment Bella because she is such a good girl. Well that all changed!! They were both awful. We are complete idiots for taking two dogs at once to the vet. We walk in, and there are two dogs already in the waiting room. So Bella and Mya both start barking. Bella is a husky so she doesn't actually "bark". Huskies do a yodel/talking sort of sound. Mya is barking and Bella is basically screaming. AND OF COURSE the other idiots in the waiting room are sitting right beside the door so our dogs are going crazy and we are trying to hold them back.

They call us back very quickly because of all the commotion LOL. So we get to the waiting room and they are both being quiet and after a bit, the vet comes in with the vet tech. They put Bella on the table ready to draw some blood. Bella is standing on the table, the vet reaches for her arm and Bella goes completely psycho, starts screaming bloody murder, flailing, trying to jump off the table and when the vet tech grabs her to try to calm her down, she gets even worse and ends up releasing her glands (if you don't know, dogs have anal glands similar to skunks and they can release this nasty smelling goo if provoked, it is not pleasant). Mind you, the vet hasn't done ANYTHING except touch her arm! All the while, Mya starts barking and trying to get at the vet tech who is holding her sister, Bella.

You would have thought that they were trying to kill Bella because of the way she reacted. Finally, Bella calms down after what seems like an eternity, and the vet draws the blood with no problems at all. Bella makes all this commotion because she was touched and then doesn't even react when the blood is actually drawn!!! By this point, I am completely embarrassed probably red in the face. Johnny and I are just looking at eachother in disbelief at what we had just seen our baby do! It was so unexpected because Bella is usually the dog who wags her tail the whole time and acts happy the whole visit.

Then it is Mya's turn. We already are prepared for her to act badly. Bella by this point is sitting next to Johnny. Mya is on the table about ready to have her blood taken. As soon as the vet tech and the vet come near Mya, Bella starts whining and screaming. Mya is already about ready to lose it and they try to get Mya in position but Mya goes crazy and ends up peeing all over the place as she is fighting with the vet tech. Bella is whining the whole time. Johnny is trying to calm Bella down but she is just getting louder. The vet politely asks Bella and I to leave the room because Bella is just making everything worse. Bella and I go to the waiting room which has even more people than before! She continues to whine and by this point, her hair is falling out and I am covered in dog hair. Every time I pet her, hair just flies off. My face is still warm from all the embarrassment and everyone and their brother in the waiting room tries to talk to me about huskies. It was so embarrassing!!! We got kicked out of the vet room.

When we get to leave, Johnny proceeds to tell me that Mya was awful and ends up pooping and releasing her glads all over the place as well. Mya is all nasty, covered in her own junk, and so when we got home we had to give her a bath immediately. Now, it is a day later, and I am still recovering emotionally from the traumatic day at the vets office! Looking back, I can laugh at everything, but man oh man I was sooooo embarrassed being there with them acting like crazy animals. Thankfully, all 5 of our babies are perfectly healthy girls. After two exhausting days of vet visits, I am so glad we don't have to go through it all again until next year! LOL

Hope you enjoyed it :P

Hoarders Anonymous

Thursday, July 9, 2009

Well, not so anonymous anymore!!! I have some photos to share with you today and I will be posting a new project tomorrow. Today is a "lighter day" at SP because we've had a very traumatic day. We have 5 (YES FIVE) dogs and today was day one of the yearly checkups. We took Snow, Emma, and Skyeler to the vet today and Bella and Mya go tomorrow. It was two hours of NO FUN! And tomorrow will be just as crazy and hectic. They don't enjoy going AT ALL (especially Emma after all her visits when she broke her leg).

Let me just add, I have purchased very few items since the beginning of June and I am trying very hard not to purchase ANYTHING for quite a while. My mom has a purse, shoes, and clothing hoarding problem (and a QVC watching problem) so she and I have made a bet recently.

We made a bet that we would not purchase ANYTHING related to our hoarding problems and the first one two break is a big fat LOSER and has to pay the other one $25! HA HA, anyway, I am sooooo going to win this!

Now let me share my hoarding problem with you:
Eyelets and Brads: these containers are full of eyelets and brads! I have recently reorganized the containers so I have similar themes and types together. Then the sides of the boxes are labeled so I know where everything is FINALLY!

Scissor wall. . . and I never even use any of them! (These are going to have to go and I would like to get punches hung on the wall instead). Stamps. . . there are about 8-9 stamp sets per container on the shelf.

Buttons! enough said. . .

Cricut cartridges! Some of these actually have 2 cartridges in a box because I have the "solutions" cartridges that don't come in binders.

Cardstock...there is more in one of the photos below.

THICKERS!!!! One of my fave addictions! I counted them. . . 86 PACKS! WHOA am I crazy?!!?

I have other alpha packs in the photos as well.

Ink. . .Notice next to the ink there are MORE stamp sets sitting on the desk.

Stickles!!!!

Glitter and embossing powder. Love it!

I rearranged this shelf so it is completely full of patterned paper and cardstock. I will have to get a new photo.

Happy Crafting,

50K and Dog LO

Wednesday, July 8, 2009

I just hit 50 THOUSAND COUNTER HITS!!!!!!!!!! Can you believe that! I am in shock and very grateful for all my visitors. I originally started this blog as a way to express myself and I never expected anyone to pay attention to me. THANK YOU for visiting!!

This week, I have been moving a little slow because I am having another bout of migraines. I have my Cricut Wednesday LO on my desk, but it is just not going to get posted today. I hope you will enjoy this funny LO instead. :O)

Ok, I will be the first to admit, I have a weird sense of humor. . . and in this LO it really shows (actually, it was my fiance's idea to photograph this, but I went with it wholeheartedly). This is one of my favorite photos. It isn't the best taken photo, but it is so funny!

  • The photo is of Emma when she was a tiny little puppy, she fit inside a regular sized sauce pan! She was less than 3 lbs. She is now about 12 lbs. You can see Bella in the background jealous because she would NEVER be able to fit in a sauce pan (she is a 65lb princess!).
  • This is one of my Vintage Plum LO's for July. I just loved everything in this kit this month. Each month the kits keep impressing me even more. This month is my few fave because I love the cherries and all the food stuff. It is just the cutest kit!
  • All supplies came with the VP kit except the green cardstock which is Stampin' UP Old Olive cardstock.
  • The vintage style labels where part of a patterned paper. I just cut them out and layered them behind the photo.
  • I made a border at the bottom with the cupcake wrappers.

Use It Tuesday #14

Happy Tuesday!!

Here's another installment of one of my favorite weekly posts. . . USE it Tuesday:

Every Tuesday, I am digging into my stash and using something I have been hoarding. I have a room full of stuff and I am going to try to USE IT!! I hope you will join me and start using your own stuff more.

Today my project uses ribbon and patterned paper that I am trying not to hoard. As you may already know. . . I have a SERIOUS paper hoarding problem. I buy and I buy and then I don't use it. I recently reorganized my scrap room a little bit because I did not have all my similar items together. I had some patterned paper and some cardstock just stacked on shelves around the room. When I was done organizing everything together with similar items, I ended up with a WHOLE SHELF of paper! WHOA! I totally didn't think my paper problem was quite that bad. . . so today, I am using some patterned paper. My project also reveals the July Stamp Set of the Month here at Scrapmaster's Paradise.

  • This card features the Stampin' UP True Friend stamp set. This stamp set is the July Stamp Set of the Month here at SP! That means receive 10% off this stamp set for this month only if you order from me.
  • The ribbon used it Stampin' UP Rich Razzleberry polka dot grosgrain. I love all the new In Color ribbons, but they are so pretty, I have trouble using them! (I have an In Color Ribbon share going on now! Check it out: http://thescrapmaster.blogspot.com/2009/07/join-my-product-shares.html).
  • I used Melon Mambo and Rich Razzleberry ink
  • Cardstock is Rich Razzleberry
  • Patterned paper is from the Stampin' UP Razzleberry Lemonade designer paper pack (I have a DSP share going on now too!!)
  • For the sentiment tag, I used the Stampin UP horizontal slot punch to make the holes and then I used a tiny piece of ribbon with a matching brad. Making tags is a great way to use up the last little pieces of a ribbon.

Here is the color combo for this week's challenge at SPCC, my new challenge blog. If you haven't had a chance, check it out! I am holding a design team call and I want YOU to apply! I am looking for new faces so this is a great opportunity for newbies to get on a DT. It is my hope that SPCC grows to be BIG! So far, it is fabulous because of all the great ladies entering the contest each week.

Here is the card I made. Sorry it is kinda blurry. I hope you can still see it!

  • My card features the brand new In Colors shown in the color combo: Soft Suede polka dot ribbon and, Bermuda Bay ink and Cardstock, and Melon Mambo ink and cardstock.
  • All the stamps used are from the Stampin' UP Friends 24-7 stamp set
  • The frame is a Sizzix scallop frame made with a Big Shot Die (be sure to check out the side bar for the Big Shot giveaway).
  • For the background I just stamped the Bermuda Bay ink on the same colored cardstock
  • The dots on the scallop frame are dots I made with Stickles glitter glue.

IBC Challenge #23

Friday, July 3, 2009

IBCC stands for Idea Book & Catalog Challenge. The IBC challenges are intended to get everyone thinking about the Stampin' UP catalog as an idea book and not only a catalog (since it is intended to be BOTH). The Idea Book & Catalogs are all filled with great sample projects which you can use as inspiration for many different types of projects.

From now on, I am going to list all the supplies used for the inspiration card because I have had a couple of questions about what was used for it.

The card below is from the brand new 09-10 Idea Book and Catalog. Use it as your inspiration for your project, but do not copy it exactly. I have given a list of supplies needed to make this card, but the challenge is to make your own card using this card as a rough guide. Be sure to let me know if you make a project with the IBCC. I just may showcase you on my blog.Supplies needed to make this card:

  • Stamp set: On A Pedistal
  • Cardstock: Pretty In Pink, Melon Mambo (In Color 09-10), Close to Cocoa, Whisper White
  • Ink/Markers: Close to Cocoa, Melon Mambo, Chocolate Chip, Pretty In Pink, Garden Green
  • Accessories: 5/8inch Chocolate Chip Grosgrain ribbon, Sherbet button pack, Scallop Edge Punch, Stampin' Dimensionals

This card features cute stamps that are brand new in this catalog!! This stamp set is called On A Pedestal, and it comes with 7 birthday themed stamps for $19.95. It is definitely a set that is on my wish list. You can see the On A Pedestal stamp set pictured below:

I would also like to show you another brand new birthday stamp set. This one is called Birthday Bliss. This set has 4 birthday themed stamps for $15.95. The thing I like most about this stamp set is that the label stamp doesn't just have to be for birthdays. You could use markers to color over the stamp and just omit the sentiment! Also the cake could be stamped without the words beside it so it could be used for cool little wedding themed cards. The Birthday Bliss stamp set is pictured below:

AND Last but certainly not least is my favorite birthday stamp set of all time (so far at least LOL). This is the birthday stamp set that I have and I just love this one because I'm CRAZY FOR CUPCAKES! Tee hee hee. I am sure my family is sick of getting cupcake birthday cards so I really should have more than one birthday stamp set LOL. The Crazy for Cupcakes stamp set is pictured below. This set contains 6 beautiful stamps for $23.95.

And here is a lovely project from Sammye Jo who played along last week for IBCC #22:

Great job Sammye Jo!!

Cricut Wednesday

Thursday, July 2, 2009

Happy Cricut Wednesday (a day late)!!

This week, I am spotlighting these cute little cherry die cuts. These are actually from the Hello Kitty cartridge! This cartridge has a bunch of awesome shapes on it that aren't solely Hello Kitty shapes.

  • This is a LO of me as a baby!! (Don't put your kids on the internet! It is dangerous!!!)
  • All items came with the July Vintage Plum kit except the journaling circle and the cardstock to make the cherries.
  • Cardstock used for the cherries is all Stampin' UP: Real Red, Basic Black, Whisper White, and Kiwi Kiss (In Color 08-09, now retired)
  • To make the journaling circle, I actually used the Cricut Accent Essentials cartridge to make the circle the exact size I wanted it. Then I stamped the lines on the circle using the Stampin UP' From the Kitchen Of stamp set. I have been meaning to put this stamp set to good use making recipe cards, but I just haven't done it yet. I have big dreams for this stamp set LOL.

  • Here are some close-ups of my LO:

AND there are already 2 entries in the Big Shot Giveaway so we only need 3 more to make it an official giveaway!

It's July!

And that means Vintage Plum has a new kit!! I am loving this kit and best of all, it is named. . . Cherry Pie!!!! HA HA I love it :O)

Anyway, onto the good stuff. . . here is my first LO for the big reveal. I already have 3 other LO's made from this kit and there is still a bunch of stuff to make more LO's with.

  • This is one of those fun old timey photos. I love getting these done and I hope to have some done again some time. This one was taken when Johnny and I were still in high school.
  • I tried to make the background paper look like old timey bar doors, but I don't know if I actually pulled it off. Johnny wasn't really convinced so now I am doubting myself LOL
  • TIP: Cut your shaped patterned paper for a neat effect. The doors were made from one single shaped patterned paper, just cut in half.
  • EVERYTHING came with this great July Vintage Plum kit, except the red eyelets on the journaling bookplate. Order your kit today at http://www.vintageplum.com
  • TIP: for the title, work backwards! For the "Gun" part of the title, I wanted to make sure that it lined up with the edge of the door, so I started by placing the letter "N" and working backwards so I had enough room for my title. I often place my alphas backwards like that to ensure I get the alphas where I want them.
And I do have a LO ready for Cricut Wednesday, I just didn't feel well enough to get it added yesterday (darn migraines!). I will get it posted in a moment.
